I watched an inspiring art video (below) by Pam Carriker this morning. I always find something that inspires me from those videos. In this one, I was luvin’ how she gathered her fodder (images, text, papers, etc) before beginning her page. I usually start with the paint part and then scour for imagery. So I did that process today and the scraps for the next page are ready and waitin’. Words have also been luring me so I’ve been doing some freestyle writing either before or after the page. Below is a little reflection piece…a note to self that goes along with today’s art journal page.
Look at everything from all angles
and when you think you’ve seen them all,
know there are subterranean layers to every story.
buried life text….sweet mystery.
Toss out your rights and wrongs and goods and bads.
Don’t draw your lines and live inside them like your country.
Swing wide. Drink your coffee. Sip your sunshine.
Go swim in a stranger’s eyes.
Just follow the trails that lure you
like a silent sky of stars.

Oh this is just wonderful. I love your art..and I will reread those inspiring words over and over. They lift me. Peace to you, kathy
thanks Kathy!… I’m happy they lift you…
Well, hate to tell you this…but the black outline flower…is a stamp. Go on now, shop!
oh lordie…I just got suckered into the wonders of wood icing today as well…where did you get it? your colors combos for them are lovely
You know, I can’t remember where or when I got them…maybe Michael’s…but I colored them with my favorite woodless colored pencils! I went shopping ( retail therapy) this week for awesome paint markers, more pencils and a new sketchpad…bad, bad. But it was so much fun.
I think I might be developing a compulsive art supply shopping disorder. Every time I see a new post or watch a mixed media video, I end up falling in love with a new product….oh dearie…
Just wanted to say thanks for liking my posts and following my blog! I just watched your video and it’s always so interesting to see how others do their journal pages…one thing I also do a lot is using magazine faces and painting over them.
